“It’s time to go… to SLAY Radio… slip out of your cardy… and let’s have a party… with the Anoooooooorak!”

Join Anna LIVE from Kilburn, London for 3.1 hours of jolly great music and owl based chat! Please find the latest “Anorak” – a weekly retro micro computer music radio show on SLAY Radio (the home of Commodore 64* remixes).

This week along with a great selection of new releases from chaps including PowerTrace, Aki Järvinen, Rune Bertil and Hazel, we have your music requests from Twitter and IRC, including some excellent original SID’s**

We also chat about Sinclair Research in Cambridge and the infamous “The Baron of Beef” pub where Mr Clive Sinclair and Mr Chris Curry had a “discussion” – and also the upcoming Retro Computer Museum weekend event in May!

* Commodore 64 = a home computer from the 1980/90′s which contains a most impressive sound chip
** SID = Sound Interface Device (the aforementioned most impressive sound chip and also shorthand for a tune prepared on the aforementioned Commodore 64)

Anorak 11/01/2011

It’s a jolly brand New Year! Ring in the cheesecake with Auntie Mistress Anna and her musical box of Commodore 64 tricks LIVE from Kilburn Town. Please find the latest “Anorak” – a weekly retro micro computer music radio show on SLAY Radio. This week along with a great selection of new releases and your music requests, some original SID’s, we have a brilliant and exclusive new tune from remixer Kate-Z. IRC peer pressure also compels Anna to sing the Second Edition of “Candygram…” to Gyroscope by remixer Mongo Erectus. Listeners to the previous attempt will hopefully avert their aural apertures :D

Anorak with Tinsel - The 12 Days of SIDmas 20/12/2010

Join Anna from snowy Kilburn, London for a very jolly festive edition of the Anorak on SLAY Radio. As a special “treat” Anna “performs” the “12 Days of SIDmas” – counting up and down original SID* music from the Commodore 64 in a Tinselesque styleé – Ho Ho Ho! (Beware! Contains singing which even turned The Grodan green. He’s still hiding under the flares)

If that last paragraph was not exciting enough there is also an exclusive new tune from Kate-Z, jolly snow drifting chat, and lots of your Chrismassy requests :D

Seasons greetings everyone! Anna x

(*SID = Sound Interface Device being the music chip in the Commodore 64 home computer and popular term for music compositions and files derived from aforementioned SID Chip)

My cherished copy of The Quest for the Golden Egg Cup written by Smart Egg Software and released by Mastertronic in 1988. The great thing about this text adventure  is that it’s totally surreal and rather hilarious! Just try swearing! Also typing “Said Hassan (one of the authors) helps :D

Smart Egg also wrote the underrated Rigel’s Revenge which is another of my favourite text adventures from this era. “get goggles, wear goggles”

p.s. I think the previous owner of this tape didn’t like the game! :D
