http://www.annablack.com/no-golf-on-a-sunday The Isle of Harris on the Outer Hebrides, Scotland is very religious. On a Sunday everything on the island is closed, and nothing happens locally but church. On our walk from Leverburgh (the 2nd largest village on Harris) we spotted 4 churches in close proximity and many others on the outskirts.

But it looks like a nice place anyway. Hope you had a great time and not finding the return to “civilisation” too hard to bear
I kind of admire the tenacity and tradition of the locals and found them open, warm, friendly and very very kind. Personally, as a countryside born and bred but recent city dweller it feels odd to have religion of any kind, anywhere dictate daily life to this extent.
After only having sheep and earwigs for company coming back to London and it’s zillions of people was quite panic inducing!
