I inherited some BBC Micro “swag” over the weekend and found some real gems including a complete boxed Elite. The most amazing thing was the hand drawn maps. Obviously a text adventure fan! They look like the maps I used to draw – except mine were in boxes and numbered :D

My cherished copy of The Quest for the Golden Egg Cup written by Smart Egg Software and released by Mastertronic in 1988. The great thing about this text adventure  is that it’s totally surreal and rather hilarious! Just try swearing! Also typing “Said Hassan (one of the authors) helps :D

Smart Egg also wrote the underrated Rigel’s Revenge which is another of my favourite text adventures from this era. “get goggles, wear goggles”

p.s. I think the previous owner of this tape didn’t like the game! :D

http://www.annablack.com/colossal-adventure Came across this beautiful 1983 copy of the Level 9 text adventure game for the BBC yesterday. It appears to be complete including the “hint envelope” :D

“Colossal Adventure is a full scale version of the original, classic, mainframe game “Adventure”: with added 70 locations. All crammed into your micro. This massive, pure text adventure has over 200 locations and a wealth of puzzles which may take months to solve.”
