A lot of people have asked me "why?" So, please find below an explanation thingy wotsit...

Last year, when I was really ill, I was stuck in the house for a few months during a *can't move* bad spell and I stared at my signed photograph of Arthur Bostrom on the mantlepiece and admired his fine moustache.

I'd bought the photograph online ages ago and didn't know why? Maybe there was something missing in my life at the time? I don't know. He'd always made me laugh with "good moaning" and "I was just pissing by the dour"

Anyway, closely scrutinising a signed photograph whilst in a pained halluciagenic state really does odd things to you.

One day whilst drinking tea and eating a lemon with a teaspoon I asked Mazipan, my girlfriend, to take a photo of me holding the photograph.

Then in my deluded state, I began to ask friends to have their photograph taken with the photograph. As I got more mobile it became a real and serious reason for me to leave the house. My confidence was a bit shot you see... constantly wearing pyjamas does that to you...

I knew that the people I was meeting would have their photograph taken with the signed photograph. A sort of self fulfilling therapy utilising a prop (or an emotionalistic crutch pedallo if you wish)...

Gradually as I became more confident and when I had the energy I started to get out more and more. Before I knew it I had quite a few APOTSPOAB's and requests from all over the place.

I had to find 2190 people...

SIGHTING IN PORTSMOUTH 14/02/2008  

So we tried to go meet them - randomly and inadvertently making friends as we went. We met some amazing people from all over the world and the APOTSPOAB count grew and grew. Inadvertently, we've ended up meeting some quite well known people. See if you can spot them...

So you see, the explanation is pretty jolly positive! The APOTSPOAB'ing grew from a pointless pointlessness into a questy catalyst for recovery from a dibiliatating illness which appears to have captured people's imagination a bit.

I've put together a film / comedy presentation which will be fun and also informative-informative Captain. The first date is at the Hull Comedy Festival and profits go to a local M.E. charity. (See above)
